The best performing companies today were Affirm Holdings Inc. (AFRM, up 47.1%) and Central Puerto S.A. ADR (CEPU, up 8.2%).

The Nasdaq led the market today, with the composite up 136 points, just shy of 1%. The NYSE Composite and the Dow were both down, but less than 0.2%.

Standout performers in U.S. markets Monday, Aug. 30, 2021

Affirm Holdings (AFRM) was the dominant gainer today. Shares in the company rose 47.1% to $99.89.

The “buy now, pay later” payment firm announced a deal with giant Amazon to offer installment payments. “Affirm already has a lot of top-tier partners, and this cements its position,” said Finder investment publisher Ron Prichard.

The second-best mover was Central Puerto S.A. ADR (CEPU). The NYSE company rose 8.2% to reach $2.90. A number of utility companies rose on the day.
