The best performing stocks in NYSE and Nasdaq trading today were Okta Inc. (OKTA, up 6.3%) and West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd (WFG, up 5.7%).

Overall the markets stumbled Friday, though the major indexes posted gains for the holiday-shortened week. The Dow dropped 1% Friday, with a 0.5% gain for the week, while the S&P 500 was down 1.6% for the day but up 0.75% for the week. The Nasdaq shed 1.6% for the day but was up overall 1.2% for the week.

Okta Inc. (OKTA) was the top gainer today.

Shares in the company rose 6.3% to $99.61 following a strong earnings report.

Second place for market gainers went to West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd (WFG), the NYSE company.

It rose 5.7% to reach $94.54.

There was no obvious news driving the move, but commodities stocks have done well as shortages in many areas have driven up prices.
