The best performing stocks on the NYSE and Nasdaq today were Sherwin-Williams Company (SHW, up 9.2%) and Valero Energy (VLO, up 5.7%).
The market tumbled Tuesday as tech shares were pounded ahead of earnings from Alphabet (GOOGL) and Microsoft (MSFT). The Nasdaq lost nearly 4%, setting a new low for 2022. The S&P 500 dropped 2.8% while the Dow gave up 2.4%.

Sherwin-Williams Company (SHW) was the biggest gainer today.
Shares in the company rose 9.2% to $270.87.
“The paint company reported strong earnings and seems to be past any supply chain worries,” said Finder Finance News Editor Ron Prichard.

The second-best mover was Valero Energy Corporation (VLO), the NYSE company.
It rose 5.7% to reach $106.67.
“The company beat all expectations for quarterly numbers, and with demand high due to Russia sanctions, that may only improve,” said Prichard.
