The best performing companies today were Petroleo Brasileiro S.A.- Petrobras (PBR, up 7.0%) and Devon Energy Corporation (DVN, up 6.8%).
Stocks overall failed to follow up on last week’s gains and fell slightly, with the Nasdaq the worst of the major indexes with a loss of 0.7%.

Petroleo Brasileiro S.A.- Petrobras (PBR) was the largest gainer today.
Shares in the company rose 7.0% to $11.72.
“The company elected a new CEO, its fourth this year, with a promise to consider ways to address high fuel prices,” said Finder Finance News Editor Ron Prichard.
The second-best mover was Devon Energy Corporation (DVN), the NYSE company.
It rose 6.8% to reach $57.45.
“Energy stocks have struggled the past few days but seemed to find a solid footing today,” Prichard said.
