The best performing companies in trading today were Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD, up 9.1%) and Xilinx Inc. (XLNX, up 8.8%).
The market started the month on a positive note, if not by much, with the major indexes all up but by less than 1%.

Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) was the largest gainer today.
Shares in the company rose 9.1% to $127.46.
“AMD’s earnings report came in well ahead of forecasts. It’s interesting that while tech has been slipping in 2022, a lot of the results have been outstanding,” said Finder Finance News Editor Ron Prichard.

In second spot for market gains was Xilinx Inc. (XLNX), the NASDAQ company.
It rose 8.8% to reach $215.71.
Xilinx is merging with AMD, and benefitted from its earnings.
