The best performing stocks on the NYSE and Nasdaq today were Western Digital Corporation (WDC, up 6.3%) and Micron Technology Inc. (MU, up 2.9%).

The market as a whole traded mixed but fairly flat. The Dow was up for a fifth straight day, but by just 0.3%. The Nasdaq and NYSE composites each moved less than 0.1%.

Western Digital Corporation (WDC) was the standout gainer today.

Shares in the company rose 6.3% to $66.79.

“The disk drive and data storage maker got a boost when its main rival Samsung announced its manufacturing site was having COVID-related problems. It’s been really up and down over the last couple of years, though,” said Finder Finance News Editor Ron Prichard.

The second-best mover was Micron Technology Inc. (MU). The NASDAQ company rose 2.9% to reach $95.60.

“Micron seemed to benefit from the same news that helped Western Digital,” Prichard said.
