The best performing stocks in NYSE and Nasdaq trading today were Mechel Pao ADRs (MTL-, up 8.1%) and Paychex Inc. (PAYX, up 5.7%).

Stocks had a positive day overall, with the S&P 500 rising about 1% and the Nasdaq Composite about 1.1%.

Mechel Pao ADRs (MTL-) was the biggest gainer today.

Shares in the company rose 8.1% to $2.01.

“This company has been gaining of late, but keep in mind it’s below where it sat just a couple of months ago,” said Finder Finance News Editor Ron Prichard.

Also performing strongly was Paychex Inc. (PAYX), a NASDAQ company. The company reported strong earnings and raised its forecasts.

It rose 5.7% to reach $133.69.
