The best performing companies today were Cerner Corp. (CERN, up 12.8%) and Fedex Corporation (FDX, up 7.5%).
Overall the market declined on the day to finish off a down week. The Nasdaq Composite declined 0.7% Friday and shed 2.8% for the week. The S&P 500 dropped 1% Friday and 1.9% over five days, the Dow 1.5% for the day and 1.6% for the week.

Biggest movers in U.S. markets Friday, Dec. 17, 2021

Cerner Corp. (CERN) was the dominant gainer today.
Shares in the company rose 12.8% to $89.67, and were up 22% for the week.
“The Wall Street Journal reported Oracle will buy the health-care data company, at a likely premium for stockholders,” Finder Finance News Editor Ron Prichard sai.

Also performing strongly was Fedex Corp. (FDX). The NYSE company rose 7.5% to reach $256.29.
The company delivered a strong earnings report that beat forecasts.
