The best-performing companies today were TJX Companies Inc (TJX, up 8.6%) and Novavax Inc (NVAX, up 4.7%).
Stocks tumbled Wednesday with the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipping 211.17 to close at 35,931.05 and the Nasdaq losing 52.28 to settle at 15,921.57. The S&P 500 to fell 12.23 to end at 4,688.67.
