The best-performing companies in trading today were QuantumScape Corp (QS, up 13.5%) and Avantor Inc Series A mandatory convertible preferred stock (AVTR-A, up 7.2%).

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 89.08 to close the week at 35,819.56 and the Nasdaq climbed 50.27 to settle at 15,498.39. The S&P 500 index edged 8.96 higher to 4,605.38.

QuantumScape Corp (QS) was the top gainer today.

Shares in the company rose 13.5% to $28.82.

Also performing strongly was Avantor Inc Series A mandatory convertible preferred stock (AVTR-A), the NYSE company.

It rose 7.2% to reach $123.95.
