The best-performing stocks in NYSE and Nasdaq trading today were Athene Holding Ltd (ATH, up 8.6%) and Apollo Global Management Inc (APO, up 8.5%).
The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 198.70 to close the session at 35,457.31 and the Nasdaq finished up 107.28 at 15,129.09. The S&P 500 gained 33.17 to settle at 4,519.63.

Athene Holding Ltd (ATH) was the biggest gainer today.
Shares in the company rose 8.6% to $83.38.
“It’s been a tough time for the insurance industry. The sector suffered a 3.4% loss during the third quarter, but Athene, which offers insurance and reinsurance products, is expected to outperform third-quarter earnings expectations. Reports I’ve seen suggest Athene could see its earnings per share climb by more than 1.7%,” said Sheri Bechtel, editor for Finder’s US share trading and investing team.

In second spot for market gains was Apollo Global Management Inc (APO), the NYSE company.
