Today’s top U.S. stocks: Petrochina Company Limited (PTR ↑7.2%), Cloudflare Inc. (NET ↑6.4%)
On a rebound day for the U.S. market, the best performing companies today were Petrochina Company Limited (PTR, up 7.2%) and Cloudflare Inc. (NET, up 6.4%).
Overall, the Dow jumped 311 points, about 1%, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 178 points, about 1.25%. Both remain well below the all-time highs set in August and September. Analysts point to the debt standoff in Washington and the current wave of COVID for the market’s general unease.
Standout performers in U.S. markets Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021
Petrochina Company Limited (PTR) was the top gainer today.
Shares in the company rose 7.2% to $51.05.
“Demand for fossil fuels for energy production as the economy moves out of the pandemic has stocks like this one surging,” said Finder Investments publisher Ron Prichard.

Another strong performer was Cloudflare Inc. (NET), the NYSE company.
It rose 6.4% to reach $123.14.
“Cloudflare has been selling off since late September and was down much more than tech overall, so it’s not surprising to see it join in the market bounce,” said Prichard.
