See the 10 biggest gainers on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq on Jan. 07, 2021

The best performing companies today were Discovery (DISCA, up 12.9%) and GameStop (GME, up 10.7%).

Overall the market was down for the day, but the Nasdaq Composite showed the biggest decline at 1%. For the week the Nasdaq dropped 5%, the S&P 500 2%.

Discovery Inc. (DISCA) was the biggest gainer today.

Shares in the company rose 12.9% to $29.05.

“Discovery got a nod from Europe for its merger with WarnerMedia, which a new analyst note said was a positive,” said Finder Finance News Editor Ron Prichard.

In second spot for market gains was GameStop Corporation (GME). The NYSE company rose 10.7% to reach $145.11.

News reports outlined GameStop’s plan to offer a marketplace for NFTs.
