The best performing stocks in NYSE and Nasdaq trading today were United Airlines Holdings Inc. (UAL, up 8.0%) and Carnival Corporation (CCL, up 7.4%).
Overall stocks were down, but only slightly, as the market awaited an inflation report and eyed the start of earnings season. All three major indexes fell, but by less than 1%.

Standout performers in U.S. markets Tuesday, July 12, 2022

United Airlines Holdings Inc. (UAL) was the dominant gainer today.
Shares in the company rose 8.0% to $38.19.
“Rival American issued new guidance suggesting a strong earnings season, which lifted the sector,” said Finder Finance News Editor Ron Prichard.

In second spot for market gains was Carnival Corporation (CCL), the NYSE company.
It rose 7.4% to reach $9.12.
“This stock has been volatile lately as investors try to figure out if cruise travel is really on the mend,” Prichard said.
