The best performing stocks in NYSE and Nasdaq trading today were Western Digital Corporation (WDC, up 15.6%) and Catalent Inc. (CTLT, up 12.1%).
Overall the market was up but almost flat, a day ahead of a Federal Reserve interest rate decision that has Wall Street on edge. The S&P 500 was the best of the major indexes with a gain of less than a half-percent.

Western Digital Corporation (WDC) was the largest gainer today.
Shares in the company rose 15.6% to $62.31.
“The activist investment firm Elliott Management made public that it is pushing the company to split off its flash drive business, unlocking value,” said Finder Finance News Editor Ron Prichard.

Another strong performer was Catalent Inc. (CTLT). The NYSE company rose 12.1% to reach $101.05 after a positive earnings release.
