The best performing companies today were Roku Inc. (ROKU, up 9.4%) and Moderna Inc. (MRNA, up 7.1%).
The S&P 500 index closed 0.6% higher as investors swooped in, hunting for bargains after the recent selloff. The Nasdaq rose 1.6% while the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.2% ahead of this week’s Federal Reserve meeting where policy makers are expected to take an aggressive stance in increasing interest rates.

Roku Inc. (ROKU) was the biggest gainer today.
Shares in the company rose 9.4% to $101.67. The stock advanced after the streaming company said its users can sign-up for Apple Music through the Roku channel store for a 1-month free trial.
After the trial, Apple Music plans are available for purchase starting at $9.99/month. Roku may generate commissions from the arrangement, helping boost the streaming company’s sales, Luzi Ann Javier, a markets editor at Finder, said.

In second spot for market gains was Moderna Inc. (MRNA), the NASDAQ company.
It rose 7.1% to reach $143.92. Moderna stock rallied after the company’s chief medical offer said its vaccine for children under six years will be ready for the Food and Drug Administration to review at its June meeting.
Investors likely view Moderna as a better bet in the pharmaceutical industry after its competitor Pfizer run into some issues with its Covid therapy, Luzi Ann said. Pfizer shares fell after the company said last week that its study of Paxlovid failed to meet its goal of reducing the risk of COVID-19 infection in adults exposed to the virus through a household contact.
