The best performing stocks on the NYSE and Nasdaq today were Occidental Petroleum Corporation (OXY, up 8.6%) and Ovintiv Inc. (OVV, up 6.6%).
The market followed yesterday’s rally with a second day of gains. The Dow and S&P 500 both tacked on 1.2%, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 1.3%.

Occidental Petroleum (OXY) was the top gainer today.
Shares in the company rose 8.6% to $57.56.
“OXY got a boost on word that Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.B) had purchased 18.1 million more shares, giving it a 14.6% stake,” Finder Finance News Editor Ron Prichard said.

In second spot for market gains was Ovintiv Inc. (OVV). The NYSE company rose 6.6% to reach $46.62, on what was a bounceback day for oilfield stocks.
