The best performing companies today were Kroger Company (KR, up 10.7%) and Best Buy Co. Inc. (BBY, up 9.1%).
It was a sour market day with the Nasdaq Composite posting a 1.6% drop. The S&P 500 declined 0.5%, and the Dow was off about 0.3%.

Kroger Company (KR) was the largest gainer today.
Shares in the company rose 10.7% to $54.65.

Also performing strongly was Best Buy Co. Inc., the NYSE company.
It rose 9.1% to reach $110.01.
“Both companies reported solid earnings, and Best Buy is raising its quarterly dividend by 26%,” said Finder Finance News Editor Ron Prichard.
