The best performing companies today were Las Vegas Sands (LVS, up 15.3%) and Wynn Resorts Limited (WYNN, up 9.1%).

On the day, the Dow lost about a half-percent while the Nasdaq rose by the same margin. The Nasdaq gained about 1% during the week, while the Dow lost 0.73%.

Las Vegas Sands Corp. (LVS) was the biggest gainer today.

Shares in the company rose 15.3% to $43.44.

“Casino stocks got a boost after officials in Macau laid out a plan to limit the number of operators there. Las Vegas Sands and Wynn were among the beneficiaries,” said Finder Finance News Editor Ron Prichard.

The second-best mover was Wynn Resorts Limited (WYNN), the NASDAQ company.

It rose 9.1% to reach $91.90.
