The wax will come off again next year.

30 years on, the cult comedy The Karate Kid is raising its fists and stepping back into the ring for another round of slapstick martial arts shenanigans. YouTube’s subscription streaming service YouTube Red has secured a 10-episode follow-up to the hit ’80s films.

Titled Cobra Kai, the show will see the original movie’s Ralph Macchio make his return as the karate kid himself Daniel LaRusso, while William Zabka will step back into the shoes of Daniel’s nemesis Johnny Lawrence. Now in their 40s, the duo are struggling to find meaning in their lives, with Daniel lamenting the tragic demise of everyone’s favorite martial arts master, Mr Miyagi, and Johnny seeking purpose by reopening the Cobra Kai dojo.

Macchio and Zabka are executive-producing the series alongside Hot Tub Time Machine writer Josh Heald and Harold and Kumar writers Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg.

Cobra Kai will launch exclusively on YouTube Red in 2018.
