Willow TV review 2020: Price and features

Last updated:

Catch every run with a streaming service that brings live cricket matches to the US.

Willow TV is the only streaming service in the US that brings around-the-clock cricket matches from more than five leagues from around the world. It’s created a monopoly in the US cricket market, but its lack of competition leaves no incentive to shore up customer service or its app. Customers complain about jumping through too many hoops to watch, saying it might not be worth the trouble.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Live and on demand. 24/7 access to cricket matches from international cricket broadcasters.
  • Indian music streaming included. Gaana+ is included with a subscription.
  • Free sign-in. Subscriptions to Comcast, Sling TV, Dish and other providers gives you free access to Willow TV.

Cons

  • No free trial. Payments begin once you subscribe.
  • Ads. It isn’t mentioned on the main website, but users say ads interrupt matches.
  • Minimal customer service. Subscribers complain that customer service is primarily through email, with no call-in options.
  • Buggy app. Users complained about the app crashing frequently, and that it doesn’t recognize login details if you log out, forcing you to resubscribe.

Match restrictions

Although it advertises matches from various leagues, there are restrictions and fine print details Willow TV doesn’t include on its site. Online subscriptions don’t include the Indian Premier League (IPL) and International Cricket Council (ICC). Willow TV lost the digital rights to those matches.

Expert review

The cons of Willow TV far outweigh the pros. This streaming service is the only way to get your fix if you’re a cricket fan living in the states, but customer reviews suggest there’s a lot of room for improvement. There isn’t a free trial to test it out, but if you add Willow TV to a Sling TV subscription, you can take advantage of a trial that way.
