The verdict
YouTrip comes with several benefits that make it an account worth considering. These include no foreign currency conversion fees, no ongoing fees, and a useful app to monitor your spending.
However, you are currently unable to withdraw SGD from Singapore ATMs, so this should be considered if you aren’t using it just for travel abroad.

YouTrip was the first company in Singapore to be granted an electronic money (prepaid) licence from Mastercard to issue multi-currency prepaid cards directly to its users. This allows the company to assume the role as its own stored value facility holder. YouTrip is also a regulated remittance business with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
All customers’ funds are held in segregated bank accounts, separate from YouTrip’s own company bank accounts. This means that your money will be protected even in the event that the company falls into insolvency.
In terms of mobile security, YouTrip’s app is protected by a password, face, or fingerprint ID. If your card is lost, stolen or compromised, you can lock and replace your card from the app immediately.
YouTrip earns its revenue by receiving a small commission from merchants each time you spend on your YouTrip Mastercard. However, YouTrip does not profit directly from users through any mark-ups on your purchases or exchange rates.
No, you don’t need to. The foreign currency conversion will be conducted at the point of purchase, so you can pay directly in over 150 supported currencies without incurring fees.
If your YouTrip Mastercard was misplaced, stolen, or compromised, make sure to deactivate the card from the app. If you’d like to order a new card, you’ll need to pay a S$10 card replacement and delivery fee. The card replacement may be ordered directly through the YouTrip app.
Yes, you can top up your mobile wallet anytime through your app as long as you have access to the Internet and are able to receive the OTP (One-Time PIN) that will be sent to your phone number as required by your credit or debit-issuing bank.
As long as you’re a Singapore resident above the age of 15 with a valid NRIC or foreigner pass, you may apply for a YouTrip account. There is also no income requirement.
YouTrip’s auto exchange lets you monitor live exchange rates and exchange SGD to up to 10 foreign currencies. Before you exchange currency, make sure your YouTrip account has sufficient funds in Singapore Dollar (SGD). Next, select the currency you wish to exchange your SGD for.
For example, if you’ve selected AUD, the SGD to AUD exchange rate will be displayed on the YouTrip app. If you’re agreeable with the rate, simply tap on “confirm” to complete the currency exchange.
