Benefits of using the UOB PRVI Miles American Express Card

UOB PRVI Miles American Express Card members can look forward to the following exclusive perks:

  • Airport transfers. Get up to two complimentary airport transfers to Changi Airport in a quarter, with a minimum charge of $1,000 overseas spend within the same qualifying period. The cost of airport transfer will first be charged to member’s card account and credited as rebate at the end of the quarter. T&Cs apply.
  • 20,000 loyalty miles. Receive UNI$10,000 (equivalent to 20,000 miles) with a minimum spend of $50,000 or more in a membership year based on a 12-month statement period.
  • Annual fee waiver. Benefit from an annual fee waiver in the first year. The $256.80 annual fee for subsequent years will be automatically waived upon renewal if you’ve charged a minimum collective spend of $50,000 on both principal and supplementary card(s) during the membership year.

The following are some other notable benefits of this card:

  • Up to 6 miles for every $1 spent on selected travel partners. Earn up to 6 miles for every $1 spent on major airlines and hotels booked through Expedia, Agoda and UOB Travel.
  • High miles per dollar earn rate on all other categories. Earn UNI$3.5 for every $5 spent (equivalent to 1.4 miles for every dollar spent) locally and UNI$6 for every $5 spent overseas (equivalent to 2.4 miles for every dollar spent) overseas.
  • Various reward redemption options. Depending on your preference, you may choose to redeem your air miles from over 40 partner airlines and convert them to cash to offset your spending or the cost of travel packages. Note that the UNI$ are only valid for two years after they were accrued (by quarterly period), so make sure to redeem them before they expire.
  • Complimentary supplementary card. You can also apply for up to two supplementary cards for free, but extra cards will cost $128.40 p.a. each.
  • Petrol discounts. Save on your fuel cost with 20% off petrol at SPC and 14% off at Shell.

Features of the UOB PRVI Miles American Express Card

On top of its elevated mileage earn rate, UOB PRVI Miles American Express Card comes with other travel-focused features designed for jet setters:

  • UOB PRVI Travel Butler. A travel concierge service that can help with your travel arrangements, such as for accommodation, flights, insurance, travel packages and car rental bookings.
  • Travel insurance. Enjoy complimentary personal accident coverage and emergency medical assistance of up to $500,000 when you charge the full airfare to your card.

American Express or Mastercard or Visa?

The UOB PRVI Miles Card offers three choices of issuers that you can choose from when you apply: American Express, Mastercard and Visa. How should you decide which one is best for you?

Regardless of which card issuer you opt for, the UOB PRVI Miles Card offers the same standard benefits. However, each of them may come with their own additional perks and promotion from time to time.

UOB PRVI Miles American Express cardholders, on the other hand, can benefit from complimentary airport transfers, bonus loyalty miles and annual fee waiver with minimum annual spend.

Choosing between them may just be a matter of personal preference. But there are a few downsides to the AMEX cards to factor into your consideration. For example, some smaller overseas merchants may refuse to accept AMEX cards due to its significantly higher swipe fees that they’d have to pay for. AMEX exchange rates are usually higher than Mastercard’s and Visa’s as well.

Make sure to consider the advantages and drawbacks of each network before making your decision.

Frequently asked questions

If your primary reward goal is to accumulate as many miles as possible and redeem them within two years, the UOB PRVI Miles American Express Card may be ideal for you due to its industry-beating mile per dollar earn rate. However, with other air miles cards offering complimentary extras (e.g. airport lounge access, 24-hour global concierge service, golfing privileges and free hotel stays), it’s worth weighing up this card against others so you can choose the one that fits your needs.
