For more detailed inclusions and to see what conditions and limits apply to each, we recommend you check the Standard and Enhanced PreX coverage table.

Depending on your needs, you may opt for either per-trip or yearly coverage:

  • Per-trip coverage. This type of travel insurance covers you for one journey to your selected geographical area. For Classic, Deluxe and Preferred plans, each trip is covered up to a maximum of 180 consecutive calendar days. For Enhanced PreX plans, each trip must not exceed 30 consecutive calendar days.
  • Yearly coverage. This policy covers multiple trips made during a 12-month period. For Classic, Deluxe and Preferred plans, each trip is covered up to 90 consecutive calendar days. For Enhanced PreX plans, each trip must not exceed 30 consecutive calendar days.

Each policy is offered with the following options:

  • Individual/group plan. This option provides cover for you and your travelling companions as covered in your certificate of insurance. If you’re travelling as a group, you can purchase coverage together to reduce the hassle of making multiple applications.
  • Family plan. This option covers one or two adults who are spouses or partners at the time of purchase and any number of their legal dependants below 21 years of age. The insured individuals do not need to travel together, but they must be insured under the same policy.

What does an NTUC Income travel policy cover?

Here are some common situations NTUC Income covers if your policy contains the benefit mentioned:

  • You’re involved in an accident overseas and require emergency medical attention. The cheapest plan covers at least $250,000 for emergency medical expenses and up to $3,000,000 for the top-tier plan. It covers all the necessary and reasonable costs of emergency medical, surgical, hospital, dental treatment and ambulance expenses incurred overseas.
  • You fell seriously ill and had to cancel or postpone your trip. If you, your family member or travelling partner is unable to go on the trip as scheduled due to death, serious sickness or serious injury prior to the trip, NTUC Income will compensate you for the expenses paid for transportation and accommodation that you’re unable to recover.
  • You get into a car accident with the rental vehicle you hired. If there are any out-of-pocket expenses, you may claim for the excess or deductible up to the limit shown in your plan.
  • The travel agency you’ve booked your trip with becomes insolvent. If you’re unable to proceed with your trip because the travel agency, transport provider or tour operator is no longer operating, you’ll be able to claim for the transport and accommodation expenses that you’ve paid for in advance that you’re unable to get back, up to the limit of your plan. However, you need to have bought the policy at least three days prior to the day you are due to leave.
  • You encountered loss, theft or damage to your belongings. If your baggage or personal belongings are lost or damaged due to an accident or theft while overseas, NTUC Income will decide whether to replace, repair or pay a cash equivalent for the loss. However, make sure the incident meets all the conditions listed in the policy wording.
  • You pass away on your trip. In the event of your death during your journey, the necessary expenses incurred by NTUC Income’s assistance company for your overseas funeral, cremation or repatriation of your remains back to your home country will be covered.

What doesn’t my policy cover?

There are a number of reasons NTUC Income could deny your claim:

  • Your claim arises from a pre-existing medical condition that you’re aware of unless you’re covered under an Enhanced PreX plan.
  • You’re making a claim for an incident that was a result of your deliberate, malicious, unlawful or criminal act or failure to act.
  • You travelled against medical advice.
  • You were under the influence of alcohol or drugs when the incident happened.
  • Your claim arises from or is in any way related to mental or nervous conditions.
  • You lose your luggage due to negligence or left it unattended at a public place.
  • You took part in extreme sports that involve speed, height, danger or a high level of physical exertion.
  • Your trip is cancelled without reason.
  • You travel somewhere else outside the country or region you’ve selected.
  • You’re trying to claim for treatments, such as cosmetic surgery, that are not medically necessary.
