What does an Allianz Travel policy cover?

Here are some common situations Allianz Travel covers if your policy contains the benefit mentioned:

  • You get into an accident overseas and require emergency medical attention. Emergency medical covers at least $1,000,000 for the cheapest plan and without limits for the top tier plan. It covers all eligible medical expenses overseas, such as transportation to the hospital, medical bills and even the cost of a family member or relative to be by your side.
  • You get robbed of your jewellery. Allianz Travel will pay you for loss of jewellery due to robbery or theft during your overseas trip.
  • You get into an automobile accident to the rental vehicle you have hired. If you have to claim on a rental vehicle without insurance, you could be facing out-of-pocket expenses that could go up to tens of thousands depending on the severity of the damage.
  • You have to undergo emergency surgery a week before your trip. If it’s for a good reason, you can cancel your whole trip and get up to $25,000 in compensation for any unrecoverable loss of cancellation fees, travel deposits and accommodation arrangements that you have paid in advance.
  • You arrive at your destination, your luggage doesn’t. You will be compensated for each full, consecutive 6-hour luggage delay caused by the carrier. However, make sure to report the delay within 24 hours to an appropriate authority and keep a copy of the written statement.
  • You pass away on your trip. In the event of your death during your journey, the reasonable costs of either an overseas funeral, cremation or repatriation of your remains back to your home country will be covered.

What doesn’t my policy cover?

There are a number of reasons Allianz Travel could deny your claim:

  • You have a pre-existing condition that Allianz Travel said it wouldn’t cover.
  • Your doctor strongly advised against travelling, but you went anyway.
  • You’re trying to claim for treatments that can reasonably be delayed until your return to Singapore.
  • You’ve been intoxicated or breaking the law when the incident happened.
  • You lose your luggage due to negligence.
  • Your trip is cancelled without reason.
  • You travel somewhere else outside the geographical area you’ve selected.
  • Your claim arises from or is in any way related to mental or nervous conditions.
