As of January 2023, COVID-19 coverage will not cover these countries: China, Macau, Hongkong, Taiwan
If you want mobile phone coverage, note that the insurer has updated its policy wording as of January 2023. Personal baggage claims will no longer extend to mobile phone and related accessories.

Premium rates
The cost of any type of travel insurance policy depends on how much coverage you want, destination and trip duration.
Although Starr doesn’t readily publish the premium rate table for its TraveLead travel insurance, you can easily get a quotation by keying in your trip details and customising your plan on its website in a few steps.
Here’s a quick overview of the process:
To start, simply input your trip details and click “Personalize my plan” to proceed.

What won’t be covered?
With any type of insurance, there’ll always be a set of standard exclusions, along with restrictions that come with the policy you choose. Make sure to read the full list of exclusions and conditions stated in your policy document to avoid any nasty surprises when making a claim.
Starr Insurance TraveLead policy won’t typically cover you for:
Pre-existing medical conditions
Travel to a war zone
Claims for terminal illness
Mental health disorders
Dental expenses
Professional sport
Claims arising from the influence of alcohol or non-prescription drugs
Loss or damaged belongings due to negligence
Confiscated items by customs officials
Pregnancy-related costs
Any claims if you travelled specifically for medical purposes, such as cosmetic surgery
Accidents or inconveniences resulting from illegal acts
Any kind of false, exaggerated or inaccurate claim
Making a claim
Filing a claim on your Starr Insurance TraveLead policy is quick and convenient.
Simply complete your claim submission through the insurer’s online eclaim service within 30 days after the occurrence of an incident that’s included in the cover. Alternatively, you may also complete your claim submission through email or post.
Make sure to attach all the relevant documents to a duly filled claim form to avoid any delay in the settlement process.
Evidence and documentation required
To make a claim, you’ll be required to submit evidence and all relevant documents related to the incident. These may be:
Property loss due to theft. Make a police report within 24 hours at the place of loss. Be sure to request a copy of the report for your claim submission.
Property loss/damage while in the custody of a transport provider. Inform the airline/cruise/train/bus operator and request for a Property Loss/Damage Irregularity Report. Take photographs of the damaged items for claim submission and retain the items for inspection (if applicable).
Property damage or third-party bodily injury. Note down the particulars of the third party, details of the incident and extent of claim. Do not admit liability, settle or negotiate a settlement without the insurer’s approval.
About Starr Insurance

Bottom line
One of the biggest draws for Starr TraveLead travel insurance is that it’s flexible and capable of meeting different needs and budgets. Instead of offering a rigid, pre-set policy with minimal customisable options, Starr TraveLead allows users to add or remove various coverage with ease.
If you’re looking to participate in scuba diving, snow sports or golfing, you’d also be glad to know that Starr TraveLead offers add-on coverage for these activities. Even if you’re forced to miss a concert due to unforeseen circumstances, compensation for your unused entertainment tickets is also included in all 3 plans.
However, do note that the sum insured for several benefits (such as personal accident and medical expenses) in Starr TraveLead is comparatively lower than its competitors. So be sure to compare other travel insurance policies available in the market and choose the right amount of cover for your overseas trip.
