Singapore is one of the wealthiest and densest cities in the world, ranking third in per capita income and third in population density. That means a huge amount of restaurants, which is where Uber Eats comes in.

Uber Eats is a standalone mobile app that allows users to order takeout food from their favourite restaurants and have it brought to their home or office by an Uber Eats delivery partner. The app is free to download for users of iPhone and Android. Once it’s installed, you can enter your address and receive a list of restaurants partnered with Uber Eats in your area. Use the app to browse their menus. When you see an item you want to buy, swipe it into your virtual shopping cart. When you’re ready to checkout, proceed to the next screen and pick your payment form: You can use a debit card, credit card or an Uber account.

The delivery service runs from 8am-11pm seven days a week. A flat fee of SGD$3 is added to every order. This money goes to help pay for Uber Eats operating costs. Once you’ve paid for your order, you can begin tracking it on your Uber Eats app. You’ll receive updates when the food has been prepared and when an Uber Eats delivery partner has picked it up.

Once an Uber Eats delivery partner has your order in hand, your app will generate a grid map showing the quickest route between your location and the restaurant. The GPS in the Uber Eats delivery partner’s phone will send your app updates of the order’s approximate location and estimated time of delivery. Once the Uber Eats delivery partner arrives with your order, simply take possession of it from them and enjoy!

Does McDonald’s offer its McDelivery service via Uber Eats in Singapore?

Yes. On 24 October 2017, the two brands announced a partnership. Nearly 60 Singapore-area McDonald’s were involved in the initial launch with plans for all 133 McDonald’s to get on board with Uber Eats in the next year. Singapore’s McDnonalds began delivering food in 2002 and became the first 24/7 delivery service in Singapore in 2005. You can order any item off the menu except for soft-serve ice cream and have it brought to our home or office via Uber Eats. The standard booking fee of SGD$3 still applies to your order since it is technically going through Uber Eats, not McDonald’s.

Can I order alcohol via Uber Eats?

Yes. If restaurants have alcohol on their menu, you can buy it. However, buying it signifies that you are declaring you are over the age of 18 and thus legally capable of doing so. If the Uber Eats delivery partner arrives at your location and believes you are not at least 18 or if you have no way to prove that you are, the Uber Eats delivery partner can deny you the alcohol. Uber Eats takes this very seriously. An attempt to buy alcohol while underage is a crime.
