What is Router Protocol?
Router Protocol is a cross-chain liquidity aggregator that aims to act as a bridge to fragmented blockchains that now saturate the industry. As a result of the increase in both layer-1 blockchains and layer-2 scaling solutions, the unconnected nature of the ecosystem is becoming more of a problem. The Router Protocol hopes to provide a unique DeFi solution to the issue of interoperability. Thanks to Router’s proprietary ‘super mesh’ system, all blockchains are connected to one another via a set of Router nodes. Each node can then read and write all data that is processed within the super mesh. The super mesh configuration also allows any new blockchain to be added at any time.
According to the project’s website, the Router Protocol, will allow for the cross-chain transfer of digital assets, facilitate asset swaps across multiple different blockchains, and allow for the development of decentralised applications (dApps) that can operate cross-chain. In addition to its three key features, thanks to Router’s underlying technology the protocol can also facilitate optimal exchange prices, the opportunity to unify all gas fees through its native token, and offer the ability for developers to launch multi-chain tokens. To help blockchain developers, the Router Protocol team has also developed a software development kit (SDK) for businesses and individuals to begin experimenting with the network.
ROUTE is the native utility and governance token of the Router Protocol. All businesses or individuals that utilise the Router Protocol can unify both gas and transactions fees for a specific blockchain if they pay in the native ROUTE token. Additionally using the ROUTE token means users are entitled to a 50% discount on all fees paid. In addition to collecting revenue, the ROUTE token is also required by all users that wish to vote on the future development of the protocol.
