Diwali Sales March 2020

Learn all about Diwali and where to find the best Diwali sales.

Last updated:

Diwali is the Hindu festival of light and is a celebration of the victory of light over darkness. Many retailers offer special flash sales at this time, and it has become one of the main shopping events of the year in India.

How do people celebrate Diwali?

Diwali is usually five days long and is a major holiday for Hindus. The literal meaning of Diwali is “a row of lamps”, and during the festival, people will fill clay lamps with oil and light them in rows around their homes, temples and schools. These lights symbolise the continuing victory of good over evil and light over dark.

Before the actual festival, many people also clean, renovate and decorate their homes and work spaces.

When do Diwali sales start?

This year, Diwali commences on 17 October and continues through to 21 October. Most online sales will run throughout this period; however, Amazon has announced that it will begin its sale at midnight on 4 October through to 23:59pm on 19 October 2017.
