5 Christmas 2020 events to use your SG Rediscovers vouchers on

The Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted many sectors of our economy, and Singapore’s tourism was undoubtedly one of the hardest hit. To support these businesses, the Government announced the SingapoRediscovers campaign: all Singaporeans aged 18 and above in 2020 should have recently received $100 worth of vouchers for use on local attractions, tours and hotel staycations.

If you’re still scratching your head on how to spend your vouchers, why not use them to get into the holiday mood? The festive season is just around the corner, and there are many ticketed Christmas events that accept SingapoRediscovers vouchers.

Christmas events that are eligible for the SingapoRediscovers Vouchers

Singapore Christmas Event 2020Ticket price (adult)
A Universal Christmas at Universal Studios Singapore$66
SEAASON of Rediscovery at S.E.A. Aquarium Sentosa$35
Gardens by the Bay Christmas Wonderland$20
FunVee Night and Christmas Light Up Tour$20.90
Sci-sational Christmas Science Centre Singapore$21

1. A Universal Christmas at Universal Studios Singapore ($66)

With leisure travel restrictions still in place, going to Universal Studios Singapore (USS) may just be the closest you can get to feeling like a tourist. This Christmas, the theme park gets a festive makeover, themed ‘A Universal Christmas’.

Not only will each zone be decorated with whimsical Christmas decor, there will also be a christmas movie land where you can immerse yourself in interactive movie scenes and sets. For a truly memorable experience (and great photos!), feel free to dress up to match the Merry Minions of Christmas and other lovable character mascots who will be decked in special Christmas outfits for their meet-and-greet sessions!

Worried your face mask may ruin your holiday photos? USS’s got you covered (quite literally). For this period, all Singapore visitors will receive a free Christmas face mask! Tickets are priced the same at $66 per adult for general admission.

2. SEAASON of Rediscovery at S.E.A. Aquarium Sentosa ($35)

Also at Resorts World Singapore (RWS), the S.E.A. Aquarium Sentosa is also holding a special Christmas event. Aptly named the ‘SEAASON of Rediscovery’, you can also redeem your SingapoRediscovers vouchers here. Tickets are $35 for adults.

The S.E.A. Aquarium is home to over 1,000 species of 100,000 marine animals, including sharks, jellyfish, stingrays and more. For Christmas, there’ll be special festive light effects, as well as a new ‘Shipwrecked!’ zone. Like USS, visitors will also receive a free Christmas face mask. However, instead of featuring characters (like the Minions and Sesame Street cast), these will have an underwater theme, with prints like colourful mermaid scales and cartoon sharks (in Santa hats, no less!).

3. Gardens by the Bay Christmas Wonderland ($20)

Not even Covid-19 can get in the way of Singapore’s favourite Christmas Wonderland by Gardens by the Bay (GBTB)! Every year end, the Yuletide event transforms the award-winning park into a magical festive destination, reminiscent of European markets in winter. There’ll also be interactive light shows and displays, carnival games and of course, a meet and greet with Santa himself.

To enter Christmas Wonderland, make sure you purchase the event tickets (instead of just general admission to GBTB). Christmas Wonderland tickets are $20 and you must book an entry time slot beforehand.

4. FunVee Night and Christmas Light Up Tour ($20.90)

Christmas in Singapore is not complete without a trip downtown to admire the enhanting Christmas lights along Orchard Road and the Central Business District (CBD). This tradition has been around for as long as anyone can remember, and promises warm, fuzzy feelings of nostalgia for all three generations of your family to enjoy.

With the FunVee Night and Christmas Light Up Tour, you can enjoy the best sights the city has to offer after dark. The tour begins after sunset, and on an open-top double decker bus, you’ll cover landmarks like Gardens by the Bay, Merlion Park, Padang, National Gallery and more. Tickets are $20.90 for adults.

5. Sci-sational Christmas Science Centre Singapore ($21)

Want to give your kids a fun yet educational experience? Try the Science Centre Singapore. Yes, we’ve all been there for our primary school excursions, but how many of us have visited the attraction for Christmas? This holiday season, the interactive science playground is hosting special Christmas activities and shows for you and your family to learn, laugh and bond over.

There’ll be a Sci-sational Christmas Trail, a Supercool Sci-sational Christmas Show and an LED’s Play Christmas Workshop. Tickets to the Sci-sational Christmas are $21, but if you want, you can also buy a limited edition Sci-sational Christmas Candle Kit for $10. After all, what’s a trip to the Science Centre without a take-home experiment?

How to Redeem SingapoRediscovers Vouchers

The prices above are correct at the time of writing, as listed on the official SingapoRediscovers booking partner sites (Changi Recommends, Klook, GlobalTix, Traveloka and Trip.com).

Although you’d have received $100 worth of vouchers, you’ll realise that they are in denominations of $10. That means the vouchers aren’t so much “free tickets” as they are a subsidy, so be prepared to pay the balance for each ticket.

For example, if you buy a $66 ticket to Universal Studios Singapore, you can get $10 off with your voucher and must pay the remaining $56 in cash.

To use your vouchers, you must log into your SingPass account (when you’re to pay), fill up your details and then use the generated voucher code on the checkout page of the booking partner (e.g. Klook, Changi Recommends, etc).

For more information about the campaign and the steps to redeeming your vouchers, refer to the official SingapoRediscovers site.

If you’re going outdoors more, secure you and your family with a good personal accident plan, which can cover accident-related expenses.

Here’s wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas from GoBear. While participating in the festivities, don’t forget to stay safe: do mask up, maintain social distancing and practice good hygiene. Enjoy!
