History of PUNKS Comic Collection

PUNKS Comic is a collection of 10,000 NFT comic series written and created by NFT collector and influencer Beanie and the team at Pixel Vault. Capturing imaginations worldwide, each 24-page comic series has been hand-drawn by Marvel and DC Comics artist Chris Wahl. The PUNKS Comic series was first released to the public in May 2021. At the time, each comic could be minted for 0.2 ETH or $720. Each NFT provided the owner with a unique piece of digital art and the opportunity to download a complete digital comic. The comic chronicles Beanie and his band of CryptoPunk-inspired characters as he journeys from a humble auction house busboy to a digital art kingpin.

In addition to the launch of the comic book, a comprehensive roadmap was also published. The future roadmap detailed that owners of PUNK Comics would be able to either hold, burn or stake NFTs to receive various rewards. The PUNKS Comic burning mechanism was open to the public at the beginning of August 2021. The burning period lasted 14 days.

Those who burned their PUNKS Comic received a Pixel Vault Founder’s decentralised autonomous organisation (DAO) token. DAO token holders were rewarded with artwork by some of the most prominent artists in the NFT space, including FVCKRENDER. The token also enabled owners to gain governance over the Pixel Vault DAO and its contents as well as acquire access to the private Discord channel. While the burning mechanism was introduced in August, PUNKS Comic owners are still waiting for the staking mechanism to be revealed.

How to buy on OpenSea

The all-time average price of PUNKS Comic is 2.413 ETH ($7,533), so expect to pay around that cost to secure an NFT in the collection:
  1. Fund your wallet with cryptocurrency to buy your NFT.
Most NFTs on OpenSea are bought and sold using Ether, the native crypto on the Ethereum blockchain. Make sure you have enough ETH in your wallet to cover the cost of the NFT and any related fees, like gas. If you're a bit short, compare ways to buy ETH to reload your wallet.
  2. Find your NFT on OpenSea
OpenSea has hundreds of thousands of NFTs listed, so consider looking through collections to help narrow down the selection. If you're after an NFT from the collection, we've listed some on this page for your convenience.
  3. Transfer ETH to a web3 wallet
MetaMask is a popular web3 wallet option, and our guide on MetaMask has detailed instructions on how to make the transfer.
  4. Buy your NFT
When you're ready to make your purchase, click the "Buy Now" button on the specific NFT you're interested in. OpenSea will show you the total cost, including fees, and after purchasing be sure to approve the transaction in your MetaMask wallet.

Evaluating PUNKS Comic Collection

PUNKS Comic NFTs are hosted on the Ethereum blockchain as ERC-721 tokens. Like most NFT collections, each PUNKS Comic NFT is unique. However, rather than each NFT holding different traits, the NFT is made unique by the digital comic work it represents and the potential rewards it offers. Once the NFT is purchased, a link is provided that allows the owner to download and save a PDF version of the comic book. The link can only be accessed once per computer.

Once an investor has the comic, they can then either hold, burn or stake it (in the future). As mentioned previously, burning the comic earns another tradable ERC-721 NFT. The burning mechanism reduces the supply of PUNKS Comic NFTs, which increases the value.

The next stage for PUNKS Comic NFTs is staking. Although staking is currently not yet available, when it is opened, it will be available for 24 months. According to the project’s website, each PUNKS Comic NFT owner can stake their NFT in return for a proportional amount of 50% of all $PUNKS tokens. Each $PUNKS token represents fractional ownership of the 16 CryptoPunk NFTs represented in the digital PUNKS Comic.

The PUNKS Comic NFTs also allow access to another project called MetaHero. MetaHero is another comic book NFT collection that will run in parallel with PUNKS Comic. The MetaHero universe is composed of heroes, villains and mutant NFTs inspired by the 16 main characters of the PUNKS Comic. To gain access to the MetaHero universe, a MintPass is required. MintPasses were initially only made available to PUNKS Comic holders. One PUNKS Comic NFT grants one MintPass. MintPasses are now available for purchase on
