Expert review

Puffy is a worthy contender if you’re on the hunt for a mid-range memory foam mattress with a no-nonsense returns policy and warranty.

But as a newcomer to the online mattress space, Puffy has few online reviews. So if you’re a sucker for reading a solid base of testimonials before buying, you might consider shopping around first.

Puffy mattress features

What are the mattresses made of?

All three of the Puffy mattresses are made of advanced foam layers and topped with a stain-resistant cover. The original Puffy mattress has three layers, while the Puffy Lux has an extra foam layer.

The Puffy Royal mattress is made of five distinct layers: a supportive base, a breathable layer for maximum airflow, two layers designed for pressure point relief and a 1.5-inch layer of foam infused with cooling beads.

Do I need a box spring?

No. Your Puffy mattress can rest on any flat surface, including box springs, flat frames, slats and adjustable beds.

How many years does a Puffy mattress last?

All Puffy mattresses come with a lifetime warranty, so the company replaces or repairs your mattress if you experience any problems that are covered by the warranty.

Our research indicates that the average foam mattress can last anywhere from six to 10 years before it might need to be replaced or repaired.

Can I rotate or flip the Puffy mattress?

Don’t flip your Puffy mattress, since it’s built with each layer in a specific order. You can rotate the mattress 180 degrees to even out the wear and tear.

Puffy sizing guide

All Puffy mattresses are available in six standard sizes, differing only in thickness.

The original Puffy mattress is 10 inches thick, the Lux is 12 and the Royal is 14.

The Puffy lux sits right in the middle, priced at $1,795 for a queen.

Shipping and delivery

Can I get free delivery?

Yes delivery is free on orders to the continental US only — sorry, Hawaii and Alaska.

Does Puffy offer a trial period?

It does! Try your new mattress for 101 days to be sure it’s the bed of your dreams.

This same trial applies to all Puffy products, not just mattresses. So take 101 nights to test out your pillow, mattress topper, bed frame and more!

Puffy’s return policy

Puffy requires that you wait at least 14 days before requesting a return, since it can take at least that amount of time to adjust to a new bed. If you’re not happy with your mattress at any point between days 14 and 101, you can request a free return. Customers in Alaska and Hawaii are not refunded their original shipping fee.

Returned mattresses are donated to a local charity where possible.

Mattress returns are limited to one per household per year, with a two-return maximum.

How to return items to Puffy

Contact Puffy customer support at 800-430-8380 or to request a return. The company will work with you to make sure your mattress is donated to a local charity and you receive your refund.

Shipping costs

Puffy ships to addresses in Alaska and Hawaii starting at $150. Exact shipping costs are determined by your delivery address.

What sets this brand apart?

Puffy donates one mattress to a child in need for every 10 social media pictures with the mattress that the brand is tagged in. Puffy works with a number of charity organizations, including Penny Lane Center, Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter, St. Vincent de Paul, The Mission of Hope and more.

All Puffy mattresses are also made right here in the US using eco-friendly practices.

What do people say about this brand?

There are limited reviews outside of Puffy’s own website on this mattress at this time. But the reviews that are published on Puffy’s site are mostly positive, explaining that the Puffy mattress is comfy and has helped some people with back and knee pain. While there are very few subpar reviews on the brand’s website, at least one customer reported that the edge support is lacking.

Why should I shop at Puffy?

  • Free shipping. All orders to the continental US ship for free.
  • 101-night trial. Take some time to get to know your new mattress, frame or bedding before committing to it.
  • Donates to charity. Puffy donates one mattress for every 10 social media pictures it’s tagged in.

  • Limited third-party reviews. As a newcomer to the online mattress space, Puffy doesn’t have many reviews outside its own website just yet.

Is Puffy better than Purple?

How does newcomer Puffy compare to Purple, one of the most popular online mattress brands out there? To start, Puffy is more affordable. Its original model is slightly less expensive than the Original Purple and considerably cheaper than the New Purple options. While both Puffy and Purple contain foam layers, Purple includes a layer of patented hyper-elastic polymer material, unlike any other mattress material on the market.

Puffy does have the added benefit of a lifetime warranty, though, compared to Purple’s 10-year warranty. Both mattresses are suitable for all sleeping positions.

What’s the verdict? If you’re looking for a more affordable bed with a similar feel to other foam mattresses, Puffy could be the winner. If you’d like to try something new and have a bigger budget, Purple is worth looking into.

If you’ve just started your search, it’s worth comparing a few other online mattress brands before zeroing in on your top picks.
