What businesses are delivering in NZ during lockdown?

Need something delivered? Find out what's available and where you can order online.

Updated

Fact checked

When New Zealand went into lockdown, there was some confusion about where you can buy the products you need to get through a compulsory time at home. Initially, all non-essential businesses had to close their doors and stop online deliveries, but now a number of retailers can deliver essential items to your door.

With the Auckland region returning to Alert Level 3 on 17 August and the rest of the country at Level 2, it is still helpful to know which retailers can deliver goods to your home.

As well as food and medication, you can now order things like:

  • Baby supplies including nappies, clothes and car seats
  • Whiteware and appliances
  • Bedding
  • Heaters
  • Hygiene, health and beauty items
  • Cookware and bakeware
  • Electronics
  • Tools for working at home like laptops, stationery and keyboards
  • Batteries, engine oil and firewood
  • Pyjamas, dressing gowns and slippers
  • Winter clothing
  • Bike parts

New Zealand retailers that can make deliveries cannot deliver everything in the store, only items that are deemed essential. You can make orders online or by phone, and some businesses are still offering free delivery if you spend over a certain amount.

Important note:

When there is a demand for essential services, deliveries may take longer than usual or the stock may change at any time. Please be patient with businesses who are doing their very best to fulfil all orders during a lockdown. We’ll do our best to keep this list updated as much as possible.

If you’re wanting to know where to buy essential items for the household, need some things to help you work from home, or alternative places to buy food and alcohol, we’ve got you covered.

Grocery, meat, produce, beverages, bakery and organic products

If you go to the supermarket during the lockdown, you might experience a bit of a wait to get into the store. Thankfully, you don’t have to visit the supermarket every time you want to get food, as there are a large number of businesses delivering a variety of items around New Zealand. You can get meat, produce, bread, pantry items, beverages and more delivered right to your doorstep – with contactless delivery of course.
