The online marketplace pulls together local and international brands into one place, so whether you’re after personal items, household goods, clothing, pet products, food or outdoor gear, there’s a good chance you’ll find it at TheMarket.

Can I shop in-store at TheMarket?

No, TheMarket is an online marketplace that pulls thousands of products together in one place so you can get just about all your shopping done. You can relax at home enjoying Christmas lunch leftovers and take your time browsing the TheMarket site on Boxing Day.

What will be on sale during the TheMarket Boxing Day sale?

While we don’t have the exact details of what deals will be up for grabs this year just yet, we can look at what TheMarket has done in previous sales for ideas.

It’s common to see department discounts such as up to 50% off fashion, accessories and outdoor equipment, up to 40% off home and living, up to 30% off beauty and health and up to 25% off toys and games. TheMarket also sometimes offers a further sitewide discount, so we look forward to discovering what’s on offer for Boxing Day.

What is TheMarket’s returns policy?

TheMarket allows you to return products for change of mind within 30 days of receiving them for a refund. Eligible returns can be returned to a MarketPoint location, where they will be processed and returned back to the store they came from. All products returned under the “change of mind policy” need to have their original packaging, including tags attached if applicable, and be in original condition.

Items excluded from the change of mind policy are mobile phones, perishable products, earrings, swimwear, underwear and products which have copyright infringement capabilities such as gaming software, CDs and DVDs.

When returning an item, first request an authorisation number online in the MyOrders Section of your TheMarket account.

Tips and tricks for shopping smart on Boxing Day

Shop the Boxing Day sales like a pro with these tips:

  • Set yourself a budget and stick to it! Set yourself an affordable allowance to spend and don’t overstretch your budget. If you do, you might suffer from a sales hangover in the following days.
  • Make a list. Plan ahead by making a list of the things that you need and also the things that would be nice to have. Otherwise, you’ll end up coming away with items you didn’t really want or need, and if you blow your budget, you might not be too happy with yourself.
  • Browse in advance. Browse your favourite sites in the days before the sales start. Try to pick out what you want to buy in advance and add it to your shopping cart or wishlist. Then, when the sale starts, you’ll be able to see which items have discounts so you can make your final decision about which ones to order.

Do your research. If you are after an item that can be found in multiple stores, check out the competitors that also stock it. This will help to avoid the disappointment of later learning that you could have gotten a better price elsewhere.
