What you need to know about Countdown
Countdown is New Zealand’s leading supermarket with 180 stores around the country. It serves over 3 million customers each week and stocks more than 20,000 products in its stores. As well as shopping in-store, you can enjoy the convenience of online shopping at any time of the day.
Shopping online
Shopping for groceries online in New Zealand became widely popular in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Whether you are unable to leave home or just don’t have time to spend at the supermarket, Countdown makes it easy to get everything you need delivered to your door. Just select a delivery window, choose your items, check out and then wait for your groceries to be dropped off.
Alternatively, you can opt for store pick-up. Select your local store, choose a time slot that you are free to collect and place your order. When you get to the supermarket, head to the customer service desk to collect. This service is free if you spend $50 or more and if you bring your own bags. If you don’t bring your own bags, you’ll be charged $1 for each bag needed.
In both cases, a personal shopper at your local Countdown receives your shopping list and picks the items so they are ready for the pick-up or delivery time slot. It’s possible to leave notes for the shopper on some items, and you can request substitutes for out-of-stock products.
It’s often possible to get a delivery or pick-up slot on the same day, but during busy periods it’s best to book in advance where possible.
Onecard
Signing up for a Onecard is free and gives you the opportunity to earn rewards when you shop. You can choose to be rewarded with E-vouchers or fuel discounts, plus all cardholders save 6c per litre at BP or G.A.S when you spend $40 or more and swipe your Onecard. If you opt for E-vouchers, you’ll receive a $15 Countdown voucher for every 2,000 points you accumulate.
Use your Onecard in-store or save it on your Countdown account for automatic product discounts when you do your grocery shopping online.
