Established in 2000, Synlait Milk Limited is based in Canterbury. Its history began with the purchase of the Robindale Dairy Farm by three entrepreneurs, and Synlait Milk was launched in 2005. Its new Dunsandel manufacturing plant started processing milk in 2008, while the company was listed on the NZX in July 2013.
Synlait acquired Auckland’s New Zealand Dairy Company in May 2017, and commissioned a new blending and packaging facility at this site in November of the same year.
Today, the company employs around 700 people and works with 200 milk suppliers to create its milk and infant formula products.
