EROAD overview and background

Founded in 2000, EROAD is a New Zealand-based company that aims to find technology-based solutions for road user charging systems. It implemented New Zealand’s GNSS/cellular-based road charging system in 2009, and the company’s vision is to solve complex transportation problems.

EROAD designs and manufactures in-vehicle hardware and operates payment gateways for road charging systems. Other services it offers include health and safety compliance for road transport as well as fleet management and asset tracking systems.
