Popular brands that are NOT made in the USA

People are often surprised to find out that some of the most popular shoe brands are not made in the USA. A few top brand that are not American-made include:

  • Nike. Nike shoes are manufactured in 42 countries around the world, including Vietnam, China, Sri Lanka, Japan, Brazil and Indonesia. Unfortunately, the US doesn’t make the list.
  • Adidas. While the company has expressed interest in bringing some manufacturing to the US, it hasn’t done so yet. Finder confirmed with customer service that there are no American-made shoes available yet.
  • Sketchers. The majority of Sketchers shoes are manufactured in China and Vietnam, with no American-made options currently available.
  • Brooks. All of Brooks shoes are manufactured in Southeast Asia, including its new Run USA model. Finder confirmed this with Brooks customer service.
  • Asics. Asics shoes are manufactured across the globe, primarily in Asia.

How do I know if a pair of shoes is American-made?

Some brands offer select American-made shoes on their websites, often in a separate tab on their site. Otherwise, check the description of the product before you add it to your cart. It will usually say “Made in the USA” here if it is. If you still can’t find the information you’re looking for, contact the brand’s customer service team directly.

Which sneakers and athletic shoes are made in the USA?

Only a handful of major brands offer American-made sneaker options — and most do not make all of their products in the US. A few of the most popular brands that make at least one sneaker in the US include:

  • New Balance. All running shoes in the New Balance Made collection are made in the USA or UK. Roughly 25 styles are currently made in the USA.
  • Reebok. A small selection of safety sneakers is made in the USA. All running and athletic shoes from this brand are made in Vietnam.
  • Carson Footwear. This small, privately-owned company manufactures all of its running and trail running shoes in Milwaukie, Oregon. Materials are sourced both domestically and internationally.

If you are looking to research about this brand, you may want to start using your favorite search engine to know more about it. Most new or obscure brands will not have a website yet specially brands from overseas. Hope you find what you need.
