What can I buy from Lyft?

Lyft offers a ride sharing service similar to Uber. You can use the Lyft app in cities where it’s available to quickly and easily get a ride to where you need to go.

There are a few types of Lyfts, but not all of them are available in every city where Lyft is currently operating. One option for budget savvy riders is Lyft Line, a less expensive way to get around by sharing your Lyft with other riders.

There are also some luxury options like Lyft Premier, Lyft Luxe and Lyft SUV. Although these options are a bit more expensive, they’re guaranteed to help you arrive in style. The fanciest option is Lyft Luxe: You’ll be picked up in a black luxury car by a top Lyft driver.

Payment options

Riders can add payment methods to their account, which will be used to pay once the ride is complete. Lyft accepts American Express, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, PayPal, Apple Pay and Android Pay.

All Lyft payments are processed through Stripe, a secure online payment software. If you have questions about the security of Lyft payments, contact Stripe directly.

If you want to tip your driver, you can do so with cash at the time of your ride, or up to 72 hours afterwards through the Lyft app. Note that 100% of tips go the driver.

What’s Lyft’s refund policy?

While Lyft doesn’t explicitly outline its refund policy, it does state that it wants the customer experience to be a great one, every ride. If you’re unhappy with your ride for any reason, you can report a complaint through the Lyft app. To do this:

1. Open the app, then tap your photo in the top-left corner.
2. Tap Ride history.
3. Choose the ride in question.
4. Tap Get help, or Request Review for Android.
5. Select your specific concern, then follow the on-screen instructions.

When’s the next sale?

Lyft offers two different kinds of promotions: Lyft credits and ride discounts. If you have either of these promotions, you can find them in your app under the Promos tab.

Using Lyft promo codes/ride discounts

If you have a Lyft promo code you’d like to use, follow these steps to add it to your account:

1. Open the Lyft app.
2. Tap your profile picture in the top-left corner.
3. Tap Promos.
4. Tap Enter promo code to add your code.
5. Tap Apply to finish.

Using Lyft credits

Lyft credits are essentially cash that you can use to pay for Lyft rides. These stay in your account until you use them up or they expire. Note that Lyft credit only applies to the fare itself and some fees, but not tips, cancellation fees or damage fees.

Credits can be added directly to your account, through a link or typed into the app.
