Vegan, cruelty-free and packaged in bottles made of post-consumer recycled plastic, Love Beauty and Planet products claim to beautify you as well as the earth.
Available at Target, the line’s packed with hair-healthy ingredients like coconut water, murumuru butter and natural nut oils. To boot: Each product’s under $10.
Our editors tried the brand’s shampoos, conditioners and hair spray to see if they lived up to the claims.
I’ll be the first to admit my haircare routine is as basic as it gets. I normally use a purple toning shampoo daily, and then occasionally throw some conditioner on my hair if I plan on blow-drying and straightening it. Otherwise, I do the bare minimum.
As a beauty novice, I’d never even heard of a shampoo and conditioner bar until Love Beauty and Planet sent its Coconut Water Shampoo + Conditioner Bar to our office. I was skeptical going into it — I didn’t think a bar of soap would be able to get the lather and creaminess I was used to with a traditional shampoo.
I’ve been slowly but surely switching to a toxin-free beauty routine, so I was impressed with Love Beauty and Planet’s ingredient lists. I’m also super low-maintenance when it comes to my hair, so I wanted to see if the Sulfate-Free Murumuru Butter & Rose Shampoo and Conditioner set could freshen, hydrate and smooth my hair so I could wash and go.
The shampoo was great, and I especially liked the conditioner — it didn’t weigh down my thick hair, and it left my locks with a shiny finish.
I’m not much of a “lotion person” because a lot of products have left my skin feeling a bit greasy, and I’m pretty particular about scents I like. I was excited to try Love Beauty and Planet lotions, however, because of the company’s commitment to the environment and their ethically-sourced ingredients. Buying sustainable products is the least I can do as a consumer to help our planet.
First, I tried Love Beauty and Planet body lotion and lathered up my arms and legs. I was pleasantly surprised to find the lotion absorbed quite nicely, and it left my skin feeling soft and refreshed.
Overall, the Love Beauty and Planet products were a hit! Our editors found the hair products freshened up their strands and added bounce and shine. And the lotions were hydrating, though the scents may not be for everyone.
Our editors were also pleased with the line’s price point and availability at their local Target stores and online.
