Can I get free delivery?
Yes, just spend $35 or more on items sold by Kmart or Sears (this doesn’t include Marketplace items).
Outside of its free standard shipping on orders of $35 or more, Kmart offers four shipping methods. The exact cost of shipping will depend on what’s in your cart.
|Shipping option||Delivery speed|
|5 to 7 business days|
|Standard||3 to 5 business days|
2 business days
Kmart does not currently offer shipping to P.O. boxes, Puerto Rico, Guam or the US Virgin Islands.
Items that require special shipping and handling or are more than 150 pounds will be sent via oversized shipping. These packages are typically delivered in 8 to 10 business days from the purchase date. Oversized shipping is not available in Alaska or Hawaii.
Overseas Military Delivery
Kmart offers APO/FPO shipping provided by the US Postal Service. Allow for an extra two to four weeks from the ship date for overseas military personnel to receive their delivery.

Standard Kmart layaway contracts include eight weeks of bi-weekly payments. A $10 down payment will be required at checkout, as well as a $5 service fee. There is a $10 cancellation fee.
For in-store purchases of $300 or more, a 12-week payment plan is available.
What’s Kmart’s return policy?

There are a few exceptions to this policy, though:

- Adjustable bases/foundations are not returnable.

- Customized items, prescription drugs and gift cards cannot be returned.

Can I exchange an item for a different color or size?
Yes, most items are able to be exchanged. However, once an item is exchanged, the replacement item cannot be refunded and is only eligible for another exchange.
Are Kmart returns free?
No, the customer is responsible for the cost of return shipping. The only exception to this would be if there was an error on the part of Kmart, or if you received damaged or defective merchandise.
How do I return an item to Kmart?
You’ll have three options to return something to Kmart:
|Scheduled pickup||This option is available for large home-delivered items. To schedule a pickup, you will need your sales check number and phone number used to place your order.|
|Returns by mail||You’ll need to request a shipping label online to begin the process. Shipping costs will be deducted from your refund, unless the return is a result of a company error.|
|In-store returns||Return your in-store or online purchase at the customer service desk of your nearest Kmart location. Include all original paperwork, parts and accessories, as well as the packing slip, if ordered online.|
Exclusions apply. Contact customer service for information about returning oversized, perishable, damaged or defective items.
Kmart’s returns address
Before you mail in your Kmart return, you’ll need to contact customer service for a shipping label. The proper return address should be printed on your label for you. Just stick the label to the outside of your package and drop it off in the mail. The cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund.
When’s the next sale?
Kmart runs special promotions and sales periodically throughout the year. Sometimes, the department store will offer a special “$1 down” promotion on its layaway payment option. If this is available, you’ll only have to pay a $1 down payment instead of the standard $10.
You can also always browse through Kmart’s clearance section on its website, which lists hundreds of great deals arranged by category. Another option is to sign up for finder’s deals newsletter so you can be the first to know of a killer deal from all your favorite stores!
What sets this brand apart?
Kmart captured a part of American pop culture that still remains alive and well today through a handful of popular movies like Six Days Seven Nights, Rain Man and Madea Goes to Jail, which have included the company’s old catchphrase, “Attention, Kmart shoppers!” The phrase came about as a way to announce its famous Blue Light Specials, when a Kmart employee would light up a spinning blue light to signify a special discount throughout the store.
Despite filing for bankruptcy in 2002, Kmart has been on the upswing in recent years. Many people are surprised to find out that Kmart bought Sears back in 2004 — and not the other way around. Kmart still currently has stores in 47 states, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Guam, plus has quite the selection of online items.
True to its beginnings, Kmart is still largely focused on retailing a wide range of goods at some of the lowest prices around.
What do people really say about this brand?
Kmart still very much has a loyal fan base who remember shopping at the popular retail giant before its bankruptcy in the early 2000s. However, some of the company’s new and old customers have concerns about too much outsourcing, declining customer service and poor atmosphere when shopping in-store that can’t compete with newer buildings.
What is Kmart’s history?
Kmart’s story begins when traveling salesman SS Kresge started selling to all 19 of Woolworth’s stores. After seeing the success of these stores, Kresge decided to open up the first SS Kresge Company store in Detroit. By 1912, the company had 85 stores and over $10 million in sales. Then, in 1962, the company opened the first Kmart discount department store, also in Detroit. Within that same year, 17 other Kmart stores opened their doors. In 1977, the company’s name officially changed to the Kmart Corp., and by 1987, the last remaining Kresge stores were sold off.
Then, in 2002, Kmart filed for bankruptcy protection, closing 600 stores. By 2003, Kmart Corp. exited chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and made plans for future growth. Today, the company, now known as Sears Holdings Corporation, owns Sears and is headquartered in Chicago.
How can I contact customer support?
Contact Kmart customer service by live chatting online or calling 1 (866) 562-7848. You can also try sending a private message through the company’s Facebook page if you’re having trouble getting in touch with customer support.
What about social media?
Kmart is active on Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat. You’ll find a healthy mix of deals/promotional offers, style and decor ideas and news across these platforms. Although the company also has Twitter and Google+ accounts, there haven’t been posts on these pages within the last few years.
