What is Kilt Protocol?
KILT is the native cryptocurrency of the KILT protocol. KILT is a blockchain that aims to facilitate the issuance of self-sovereign digital identities for anyone wishing to participate within the Web 3.0 economy.
The protocol hopes to achieve this while maintaining decentralisation and anonymity. Regardless of the decentralized application (dApp), users will retain full control of their private information at all times.
According to KILT’s documentation, the protocol is designed to replace established user authentication models like Facebook signups and other centralized, password-based, verification methods. The KILT Software Development Kit (SDK) enables developers to build decentralized applications for the creation, storage, and verification of personal credentials. Developers can also build new business models around trust, identity, and privacy. The blockchain will allow users to claim certain attributes in regard to their evolving digital identity, which can be attested by trusted entities. Trusted entities within the ecosystem can then be rewarded for their services. Once credentials are attested, these credentials become self-sovereign certificates for the user and are stored on the KILT blockchain, ready for use within the Web 3.0 ecosystem. The KILT blockchain was developed using the Parity Substrate and is, therefore, heavily connected to the Polkadot ecosystem. The blockchain is fueled by the native cryptocurrency, KILT. KILT is used as a medium of exchange within the KILT ecosystem and can be used by those wishing to stake.
