This new subscription service is ready for use on your favourite Android device. Here's how to set up Disney+ on your smartphone or tablet.

Fact checked

Disney+ is here. With a massive catalogue of movies and TV shows to choose from ranging from High School Musical to The Sound of Music, there’s something for everyone.

Lovers of action will be hooked on the new live-action Star Wars series The Mandalorian as well as the rest of the Star Wars canon. Disney and Pixar fans will love the library of classic and modern animations. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is all there including recent releases such as Avengers Endgame. And for those who love to learn, you can catch The World According to Jeff Goldblum on the National Geographic channel.

Here’s how to watch Disney+ on your Android device.

Step 1. Download the Disney+ app for Android

Go to the Play Store on your Android smartphone or tablet and search for the Disney+ app. Click “Install” and wait for the app to install onto your device.

Step 2. Create a Disney+ account

You can sign up for an account for either €6.99 per month or €69.99 per year. The yearly cost equates to about two months free when compared to the monthly subscription cost.

If you haven’t already set up an account on the Disney+ website, clicking either the monthly or annual subscription buttons on the app will use your Play Store payment details to complete the subscription.

If you sign up through the website, you can choose a different payment method, such as PayPal or a credit card.

Step 3. Create user profiles

If your household has more than one person who would like to use the Disney+ app, creating separate user profiles for each person is a great way to ensure that watchlists and viewing histories can be kept separate for each person.

Once you’re in the app, tap on the Mickey Mouse icon in the bottom left corner of the screen.

  1. Tap the “Add Profile” button.
  2. Choose an avatar for the profile.
  3. Give the profile a name.
  4. If you want to ensure that younger viewers don’t see content that they’re not ready for, enable the “Kids Profile” option to allow only child-friendly content to be viewed by that account.
  5. If you’d like autoplay enabled so that the next episode in a series will automatically play, you can switch that on as well.

Step 4. Start watching

Now it’s time to relax with a movie or TV show, grab some popcorn, tap on what you want to watch and enjoy the show.

Step 5. Stream to your TV

If you have a Chromecast connected to your television or you own a Chromecast-compatible TV, you can broadcast Disney+ from your device so you can enjoy your content with full sound on the big screen.

Tap on the Chromecast icon near the top corner of your device screen and choose your TV from the list of available devices.
