What is NOW TV?
NOW TV is Sky’s on-demand streaming service, or the pay TV giant’s response to competitors like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. The platform allows users to purchase passes to watch their favourite content, which ranges from TV series to live sports. You can watch pay TV channels live or catch up with popular content on your own schedule.
NOW TV offers four passes – Entertainment, Sky Cinema, Sky Sports and Kids. Entertainment comes with a plethora of TV series, Cinema offers over 1,000 movies to binge, Kids has tons of content for children and Sports gives you access to Sky’s 11 sports channels, which you can watch live. Users can purchase one pass or get them all. You can also cancel your passes at any time since there are no contracts involved.
How does Sports Pass work?
NOW TV Entertainment, Cinema and Kids passes are all available for a month. With Sports, things are a bit different. There are four types of Sports passes up for grabs – Day, Week, Month and Mobile Month.
The Day Pass lets you stream Sky Sports for 24 hours, while the Week Pass extends that period to 7 days. These are both available as a one-off purchase. You simply buy the pass and use it until it expires.
The Month Pass will last you an entire month and it automatically renews, so you will have to cancel it if you don’t plan to extend your subscription once the month is up. All three passes let you stream sports on any device that NOW TV is compatible with.
Finally, the Mobile Month pass will also last you a month, but you will only be able to stream content on your smartphone. This one also renews automatically when your month is up.
What does the Sports Pass get me?
The Day, Week and Month passes enable you to watch all of Sky’s 11 sports channels via the Internet. Meanwhile, the Mobile Month pass only lets you watch five channels –Premier League, Action, Racing, Arena and News.
This translates to a lot of sports content, including the Premier League (with exclusive Saturday 3pm games), Bundesliga, international rugby, cricket, golf and every Formula 1 race live, as well as exclusive shows and award-winning analyses.
How much does the NOW TV Sports Pass cost?
The Day Pass costs €10, while the Week Pass is €15. If you’re looking to commit for a longer term, the Month Pass costs €39/month and the Mobile Month Pass is €7/month. You can cancel your monthly subscription anytime.
On the same note, you can also bundle your Sports Pass with other passes or with the NOW TV Smart Stick. At the time of writing, the NOW TV Smart Stick and a Month Sports Pass cost only €45 (you save 30%).
Is there a free trial?
Unfortunately, no, but you can start with a Day Pass to get a feel for the platform. Moreover, NOW TV is always running promotions, so make sure you check the website on a regular basis.
What devices can I watch on?
If you purchase a Mobile Month pass, you can only watch on your smartphone. You won’t be able to watch on any other device (not even a tablet) or cast your screen to your TV.
Otherwise, NOW TV works on computers and mobile devices (smartphones/tablets), game consoles (XBOX One, PS4) and LG smart TVs. You can also purchase a NOW TV Smart Stick to enjoy content on the big screen. All you need to do is plug it into the HDMI port of your television and you’re good to go.
NOW TV users with a Day, Week or Month pass can register up to four devices and watch on two at the same time.
