Crypterium’s mission is to be a crypto bank by making it easier for people to spend and use cryptocurrency just like fiat. The wallet offers a variety of features that a conventional bank does, such as sending and receiving money, instant payments, fiat integration, and zero transaction fees for in-app transfers. It also offers a Crypterium card that you can use to spend your crypto.

Here’s an overview of Crypterium’s standout features and shortcomings.
The Crypterium card allows you to deposit crypto from your wallet onto the card and use it to pay for goods and services in fiat. A little like a traditional prepaid card. It is available for free from the app, and you can choose between a virtual card, a plastic card, or both. There’s no monthly fee provided you spend at least €299 or more on the card every month. If you want a physical card, you’ll pay a delivery fee of €14.99 and a 2% loading fee. On top of that, there’s a 2.5% foreign transaction fee and a €0.25 fee when making an online or Apple Pay payment. More details on this in our fees and limits table below.
Compared to other crypto cards on the market, the Crypterium card is available in many countries including Ireland, making it a versatile choice for people with limited payment options. However, the fees are extortionate, and there is no cashback on purchases or perks like Netflix and Amazon. Also, it may not be the ideal choice if you are not spending more than €299 per month on the card as you’ll have the €2.99 monthly maintenance fee to pay.
With your Crypterium wallet linked to your Crypterium card, you can easily transfer your crypto into euros. Something you can’t do with traditional prepaid cards. That said, there are no perks with the Crypterium card or any offers of cashback. Top-ups to the Crypterium card will set you back 2% each time.
Crypterium is a good choice for traders looking to manage their crypto assets via a secure wallet that also makes it easier to spend or transfer funds to other users. However, the Crypterium card may be a little more basic compared to others on the market.
Crypterium supports close to 20 cryptocurrencies including:
Crypterium is a “hosted wallet” meaning that while your wallet is connected to the internet, Crypterium keeps the private keys securely offline. It is hosted by BitGo – a US regulated crypto custodian firm best known for its multisignature technology for securing wallet transactions. In addition, the wallet is protected by high level security systems commonly offered by banks – this is one of the reasons why Crypterium is often regarded as a ‘cryptocurrency bank”.
All crypto assets purchased within the platform are fully insured – implying that users will be compensated in the event Crypterium’s servers are compromised.
You’ll be able to use your Crypterium card anywhere in the world where you see the Visa logo.

Don’t expect any perks with the Crypterium card. Yes, it aims to make spending your crypto easier by linking your Crypterium wallet directly to your Crypterium card. But you’ll pay for the privilege. The high fees you’ll pay for withdrawals and top-ups should make you want to do some research and compare your options.
