What is Hydra?
Hydra is a permissionless and open-source blockchain that aims to solve the issue between inflationary and deflationary token models. Issues regarding token supply have been a source of great contention from those both inside and outside the cryptocurrency industry.
As a result, Hydra has tried to find an answer by combining the source codes from Bitcoin, Ethereum and QTUM, with a unique Proof-of-Stake mechanism and tokenomic model.
According to the project’s website, the Hydra chain burns 100% of all transaction fees generated by the network and, at the same time, maintains block rewards which inflate the overall token supply. The inflationary mechanism incentivises validators to support the protocol, while the deflationary mechanism lowers the overall token supply. The blockchain is currently supported by over 500 nodes worldwide. Thanks to the unique architecture of increasing and decreasing supply, the blockchain does not face the issues faced by other layer-1 blockchains such as when to change from an inflationary to a deflationary state.
HYDRA is the native cryptocurrency of the Hydra blockchain. The token is required for all transactions that take place within the ecosystem and are required by all validators that wish to secure and support the network. New HYDRA tokens are released via block rewards which are issued to all supporting validators.
