How to use Google Express

Find deals from your favorite stores in a flash.

Fact checked

Online giant Google powers a rebranded shopping service that lets you browse products from a variety of stores and sites. Shop by item, department or retailer, and add your store membership cards for fast, easy reorders and rewards.

What is Google Express?

Google Express is an online shopping service that lets you compare deals on everyday essentials, luxury good and thousands of other items from a range of popular retailers. You can shop online or through a mobile app, quickly scanning prices from several stores at once and choosing the one you like best. Or use Google Assistant or Google Home to place a voice order for you.

While some stores let Google arrange delivery, you can take advantage of free shipping offers, coupons and other promotions from third-party retailers.

This service is rolling out across the continental US (sorry, Alaska and Hawaii residents!).

How does Google Express work?

Google Express partners with smaller retailers and big-box stores like Target, Costco and Best Buy. So you’re able to compare prices and options from a variety of stores just by typing in the product you’re looking for.

Shop by retailer, department — such as electronics, baby and kids and grocery — or type keywords into the search bar. And see verified customer reviews for each item, just like on Amazon.

You need a Google account to place an order, despite buying items from third-party retailers. Delivery fees and shipping speeds vary, depending on the options available from that particular store. But you can knock down your order total with coupons from individual retailers and Google Express.

Shipping and delivery options

Shipping options and fees depend on the store, how much you spend and your location. Many stores offer free shipping when you spend a stated amount, and those offers extend to Google Express. View delivery options and charges at checkout.

Returns, refunds and exchanges

Return and exchange policies vary by store, but Google Express has a standard 30-day return policy that many items fall under.

Exclusions to this policy include:

  • You must return electronics within 14 days of delivery.
  • Some food items or live plants are not returnable.
  • Gift cards are not returnable.
  • Music, videos, collectibles and software must be sealed and unopened to be eligible for a return.

Select stores on Google Express handle their own returns, so you’ll need to get in touch with that store directly for return and exchange instructions.

Many others allow you to return items through Google Express. See the product page of each item before you buy and in your Google Express order history for details on returns.

Order help

Get in touch with Google Express customer support if you have any issues with your order or questions about returning an item:

  • Call 855-869-4949.
  • Chat live with a representative online.
  • Send an email through its online contact form.

If you need to speak directly with a retailer on Google Express, customer service can provide contact information and instructions for direct contact with the store.

Bottom line

Google Express makes shopping across multiple retailers a breeze. With a growing list of partners and multiple ways to shop, this service is fast becoming a rival to one of the web’s biggest players: Amazon.
