How to buy SpiritSwap (SPIRIT)

Learn how to buy SpiritSwap (SPIRIT) in our step-by-step guide.

Where to buy SpiritSwap

It looks like SPIRIT may not be available to purchase on an exchange in the US.

You can still purchase SPIRIT by using a decentralized exchange (DEX) instead. Decentralized exchanges are web applications that run on blockchains like Fantom and allow users to trade any asset directly with one another.

Decentralized exchanges (DEX) are unregulated and run using autonomous pieces of code known as smart contracts. To use a DEX you must interact with the blockchain directly, which is not recommended for novice users. Please learn about decentralized exchanges first if you're unfamiliar.

How to purchase SPIRIT using a decentralized exchange.
  1. Find SPIRIT on a decentralized exchange and make sure SpiritSwap can be traded for FTM which is the native asset of Fantom. The most popular DEX on Fantom is Spookyswap.
  2. Buy FTM to trade for SPIRIT using an exchange like Gemini. You will need to purchase enough FTM to swap for SPIRIT as well as FTM to pay for transaction fees on the Fantom network (known as gas). Gas fees on Fantom cost a fraction of a cent.
  3. Transfer the FTM into a web 3.0 wallet like MetaMask to connect to the DEX.
  4. Trade FTM for SPIRIT on the DEX of your choice, following the instructions on screen. Make sure to leave enough FTM in your wallet to pay for gas.
  5. Wait for the transaction to finalize and the SPIRIT tokens will arrive in your wallet.
  6. You may now keep the tokens in your web 3.0 wallet or transfer them somewhere more secure like a hardware wallet.

You can follow the same process when you want to sell your tokens, or come back to this page to see if they can now be traded on an exchange in the US.

Best SpiritSwap wallets to store your SPIRIT

You can keep your SPIRIT on the exchange you purchased it on, or move it to a personal wallet:

  • Some people like to use their own wallets to guarantee total ownership over their assets, or to use them with other applications like DeFi services.
  • Hardware wallets are typically considered to be the safest type of cryptocurrency wallet, as they use a physical device to enhance security in a number of ways. You can take a look at some of our top hardware wallet picks for self-custody of your SPIRIT below.

Is SpiritSwap a good investment?

Before purchasing any cryptocurrency, an accurate evaluation of both the token and the associated platform should be completed. With regards to SPIRIT, here are a few things to look into.

  • Fantom blockchain: SpiritSwap is one of the most prominent dApps built on the Fantom network, and a lot of its adoption will come from Fantom users and FTM token holders. Due to this, the price of SPIRIT tokens may be correlated with the value of FTM. It is worth evaluating the Fantom blockchain in comparison to other DeFi protocols before buying SPIRIT.
  • Ape Mode: SpiritSwap is constantly in development, with new features being regularly added to the platform. The ability to trade long and short with leverage is a particularly unique feature to Fantom’s DeFi ecosystem, and it may be worth following its evolution and adoption. That said, this function is called ‘Ape Mode’ for a reason – trading with leverage is incredibly risky and should only be attempted by experienced investors.
  • Competition: SpiritSwap’s suite of advanced DeFi features, in conjunction with being built on the Fantom blockchain, grant it a niche spot in the market for DEXs. Even so, automated market makers are growing in stature throughout the decentralized finance world, and similar applications like Uniswap and PancakeSwap have already cornered a huge portion of the available market share.
