What is Origin Protocol?
The Origin Protocol was built on the Ethereum blockchain and aims to bring non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and decentralized finance (DeFi) to the average consumer. According to Origin Protocol's litepaper, the protocol seeks to enable a decentralized peer-to-peer (P2P) marketplace, allowing for commerce without the need for intermediaries. Origin Protocol believes that this should promote an open and transparent platform for commerce.
The platform has begun focusing on an NFT marketplace and launchpad, which already allows buyers and sellers to purchase and sell fractional use goods and services. The platform has also developed a US dollar stablecoin called Origin USD (OUSD).
While OUSD is a prominent part of the ecosystem, it is the native OGN token that powers the platform. The token can be used for staking, governance and the collection of fees within the Origin Protocol ecosystem.
Origin Protocol (OGN) is the 235th largest cryptocurrency in the world by market cap, valued at $299,772,087. The current price of Origin Protocol is $0.837363, which is -0.028% lower than yesterday. What to consider when buying Origin ProtocolOrigin Protocol is an innovative project and should be assessed for both potential risks and potential upsides. To help, here are a few factors to consider:
- Multi-purpose token: OGN is central to the Origin platform and holds a multi-function purpose. Functions of the token include: validation and security of the network, advertising on the Origin Protocol platform, incentivizing end-users, collection of payments and governance of the project.
- Supply: The total supply of tokens is capped at 1 billion. 20.24% of all tokens have been allocated to the Origin Protocol team. The remaining tokens are/will be distributed as follows: 31.37% to foundation reserves, 23.75% to strategic sales, 12.99% to ecosystem growth funds, 4.84% to CoinList sales, 4.38% to advisers, 1.69% to adviser grants and 0.73% to long-term partnership tokens.
- Zero transaction fees: Although built on the Ethereum blockchain, the platform implements a meta-transaction relayer that plays an important role in significantly reducing transaction fees. The reduction of transaction fees enables smooth and efficient commerce between all parties.
- Investors: On June 8, 2021, NFT bull Paris Hilton officially joined the platform as an investor and adviser. Origin Protocol has also received investments from the founder of YouTube Steve Chen and investment groups including Pantera Capital and Foundation Capital. These investments contribute to the credibility and promising future of the project.
