Best Handshake wallets to store your HNS

You can keep your HNS on the exchange you purchased it on, or move it to a personal wallet:

  • Some people like to use their own wallets to guarantee total ownership over their assets, or to use them with other applications like DeFi services.
  • Hardware wallets are typically considered to be the safest type of cryptocurrency wallet, as they use a physical device to enhance security in a number of ways. You can take a look at some of our top hardware wallet picks for self-custody of your HNS below.

Is Handshake a good investment?

Before purchasing any cryptocurrency, an evaluation of the token and its associated platform should be completed. With regards to Handshake, here are a few things worth considering:
  • Tokenomics. HNS tokens have a max supply of over 2 billion, with approximately 20% (406 million) of these coins already distributed as of July 2021. Handshake set aside approximately 15% of their max supply for the project’s creators and investors, and delegated another 68% to third party developers. The remainder of tokens have been distributed to various websites under ICANN’s jurisdiction to incentivise them switching providers.
  • Adoption. Like many cryptocurrencies with ambitious goals, much of their success relies on societal uptake. For Handshake to revolutionise the Internet and make ICANN ultimately redundant, it requires huge companies like Google, Facebook and Amazon to get on board, which may be a tall order.
  • Security. While Handshake intends to be a solution with improved online security, much of the reason websites became centralized in the first place is due to issues with spam, hacking and griefing. The blockchain is still in its early stages of development and will need continued improvement before the public becomes more confident in its security.
